  • Yes as pixie trix said in the 70's it was a required class but I would of taken all that I could anyway since alls I wanted to be was a a wife and Mother and I am those things but a working mom to which I didn't want to be. You know it's never to late to learn get a machine and a book and away you go.

  • Yes, I loved it.

The boys were so funny, and it is a wonderful to learn and have fun.

We cooked-cookies, muffins and stuff. We sewed-pillows, we also had wood shop. I remember making a tic tac toe board out of wood. PS> 38 Jersey City...

  • I had some in middle school and more in high school. We learned how to sew, cook, do laundry, all kinds of stuff. Sadly, my kids go to a school system that is on the brink of default so that are not permitted to take anything more than core classes... and all the arts, music and electives have been discontinued. The only extra they can take is two years of a foreign language. Personally I think home economics should be required.

  • No-
I went to a college prep school in the early 70s- These classes were electives- I was too busy taking core classes- I also liked Music, so instrument class was my elective-
