how do you get swelling to go down without usen like ice and stuff like that?

my dd has surgery on her arm thursday and today her whole arm is bad swollan. it seriously looks like a balloon. we are taking her to the er as soon as my hubby gets here. anybody have any advise for what im to do untill then??? im freakin out!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Elevate it. Are you giving tylenol? It will help with swelling

  • um you caould have an ambulance pick her up. But i would think ice is the best. im not sure if the doctor would want her to take any meds or not. I would call and tell them otherwise you will be there ASAP but ask them what to do until then....

  • That sounds like an infection, my dad had 8 surgerys on his leg and thats what happend when he got a staff infection...i would take her in asap

  • She could have an infection. I hope she feels better real soon. Try the ice again even if you put it on for a little while.

    THEN GO!!!!! Ask a neighbor to drive you or call an ambulance if you have to...this is certainly worth the call!!

  • call get that ride, but calm down. She won't get better unless you calm down . OK.

    If ice isn't around put some frozen corn or peas a new package.
