    1 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/8 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. milk
    1 egg
    1 tbsp. melted butter
    1 shredded apple
    1/2 tsp. vanilla

Heat waffle iron. Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and spices. Set aside. Combine milk, egg, butter, apple and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Stir until well moistened, but still lumpy. Pour about 1/2 cup onto greased, hot waffle iron. Bake until brown and crisp.

  • I stick with the basic plain waffles - the extras can stick & burn even if you're careful. The only "flavor" I make is adding extra vanilla & cinnamon. I make fruit syrups to pour over the top.

  • My kids LOVE chocolate and chocolate chip waffles! Add a few teaspoons of cocoa powder to the basic waffle mix or chocolate chips--or BOTH, and you're good to go! You could also add some a little cinnamon powder or cinnamon sugar and confectioner's powder on top after cooking. YUM!!

  • Banana-Nut Waffles
    2 cups Original Bisquick® mix
1 cup mashed very ripe banana (2 medium)
    1 cup milk
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    1 egg

    1. Heat waffle iron; grease with vegetable oil or shortening.
    2. Stir ingredients until blended. Pour onto center of hot waffle iron. Close lid of waffle iron.
    3. Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle.

  • We add all kinds of stuff to our waffle batter: blueberries, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, bacon, ham (DH swears it's really good), vanilla, you name it! DH also makes a wonderful homemade strawberry sauce.
