making and freezing pancakes for the weeks ahead?

My family loves pancakes, but the weekdays are too hectic sometimes. anyone know if you can just make, then freeze them? how long do they keep, etc? do I freeze them flat, then wrap?
thanks! :)

  • I freeze mine flat and then put them in a big gallon freezer bag. The kids just get whatever they want and reheat them. If they just want one or two, they pop them in the toaster. If they want more than that, they heat them lying flat on a plate and then stack them once they're heated. It doesn't take long to reheat them, so keep a close eye on them. (I think my son heats a plate full for about 30-45 seconds.) I can't say how long they last though because they don't hang around more than a week or two no matter how many batches I make!

  • I've done it before, just froze them flat then popped them in the microwave or toaster the next day

  • yes I have! only started on accident because I had some leftovers, but it worked great!

wrapped each one (or you could do stacks if that's how your family eats them) in saran wrap.
microwaved for about 15 seconds at a time, testing to see if warmed. don't want to over heat them. (stole the time from memory from some frozen pancakes)

  • We do it all the time. We wrap them individually in wax paper and stick a bunch in a freezer bag. When we take them out we just pop them in the toaster oven and they taste fine :) I don't know how long they last though b/c my kids usually go through them within a week or two.

  • My family use to do this all the time when I was little. Just cook them and wrap them. I don't know how long they keep though.
