Stinky Armpits

My son who is 5 has smelly armpits. They smell like sweatsocks. We give him a bath everynight and every day they smell. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Holy cow....I thought stinky armpits appeared during puberty??? At that age,I am thinking there must be another reason. I would ask the pediatrician. He's too young to need deoderant

  • I had to buy my 7 year old daughter deodorant. I bought her Tom's of Maine because it's all natural.

  • Hi well this is unusual to some people but totally normal to me...when my 12 yr old was 6 months old as my bil was blowing kisses all over him he noticed my son smelt like bad bad bo..yes just 6 months old!!
So of course i give him a bath and later that night smelly again..for the next few months i latheredd him in baby powder and lotion..when he started getting real active 18 months he smelt like a teen aged boy!!! Took him to a dermatologist and she gave him prescription deodarant..and told me to keep him away from citrus and spicy...and because his dads side is carribean, it runs in his blood!!! So now my son is 12 and has just been wearing deodarant since he was 2..took him off script at around 5 ..and so i wouldnt give him a complex i just let him pick out any scent deodarant he wanted..keep the deodarant on him fdaily make it a habbit..NOW!!!! And it will stay under control!!

  • Start using a deodorant on him. My nephew is six and wears it. I would look for a natural one though.

  • There is a natural one called TOM'S OF MAIN. I've gotten it at walmart of my 8, now 9, year old son. What kind of soap are you using with him? I would try a deodorant soup such as dial gold before I jump start to the under underarm deodorant. I was able to use the dial gold for a year before I had to get my son the underarm deodorant.
