Really strong non-narcotic pain pills. Do they exist?

My husband was almost killed in a motorcycle crash this April. His helmet saved his life and the broken bones have healed but now he needs to surgery to fix his knees which are totally out of whack.
His doc has had him on Percocet and Vicodin but he is an addictive personality, so in addition to the pills making him loopy at work, he doesn't want to be addicted.
He tried one non-narcotic pill and it didn't work. Medical marajauna works but I don't want a damn pot head for a husband. Anybody know of anything that I can suggest he try?

  • unfortunately not really. the NSAIDs will work better than tylenol because they are anti-inflamitories. (NSAIDs include aleve and ibuprofen)

there is a Rx one that's non-narcotic that he might can try - tramadol

as for the narcotic ones, make sure he eats when taking them, that can help cut back on the loopy side effects.

  • Toradol and tramadol are the only ones I know off.
IMO- pot is better than man made drugs though
