black spots in baby poo? adult content

My daughter is 5 months old and exclusivly breastfed except for one cereal feeding every night. She had not pooped for about four days, then pooped yesterday. It was dark brown and thick. Today she pooped again and it was dark brown, really thick, and had a lot of black spots in it. Her next poop was a little thinner, a little lighter, and still had the black sopts. I called the doc but was put on hold and no one picked back up. Ill call again soon. Anyone know what may be going on?

  • just her body adapting mama. but it sounds like you are feeding rice cereal? try oatmeal as its way less constipating. but to feel better, call her doc :)

  • This is a sign that her body is not quite ready to digest the cereal. The recommendations are to breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months. Hold off on the cereal for a few more weeks.

  • I would stop the cereal and wait until 6 months.
