I'm surprised he's not more excited.

My 3 (almost 4) yo ds starts preschool in 2 weeks. We try talking to him about starting school, and he almost seems bummed out when he talks about it. My oldest was nonstop talk/excitement when he was just a couple of weeks away from starting school.

Any thoughts? Were your kiddos like this?

  • My son is 3½ but won't be old enough to start school until fall 2011 (he won't turn 4 until mid-late January). Anyway he has no desire to go to school. I bring it up and he tells me he's fine he'll just stay home with me. lol

I wouldn't read too much into it, I bet he will be more excited after going for a couple days. :)

  • my 3 year old asks me all the time to go to school! Try to make it a big deal and hopefully he'll get more excited. Maybe take him to pick out a new backpack/lunchbox and clothes?

  • my oldest was beyond exited but his sister 16mos younger never was as thrilled. All kids are different. She had fun when there but cried sometimes when I left..Just be exited when you talk about it and make it fun maybe read books about starting preschool or watch cartoons so he can kinda relate what may happen when he starts.

  • I'm hoping. Last year he was all about wanting to go to school because "Bubba" got to go and he didn't. It's even how we got him potty trained.
