Is it normal for teeth to come in not "in order"

My daughter got the 4 front teeth on top and bottom "in order" like the first front two came and then the ones next to those .... now her canines haven't come in, but she got the tooth behind where the canine would be on top. Is that normal?

  • Yes. They usually get the 8 fronts, then the first 4 molars, then the 4 canines, and the second 4 molars :)

  • haha I know after I read that it sounded silly, but I guess I always thought they would start in the front and work their way back ...

  • I think its normal. My daughter got the two top teeth that are next to the front 2 teeth she looked like she was a 6 year old that just lost thier 2 front teeth, LOL.
Now she has a whole mouth full of teeth and they look in order now! LOL

  • Sometimes they come in front to back (and in pairs), both of my older kids teeth did. With my youngest, he was never getting teeth where the charts showed he should be. He has a gorgeous little smile now, but they grew in pretty crazy.

  • My Dd has all four of her molars, but no canines yet. Her other 8 teeth didn't surface in the proper order either though. She got her top teeth first.
