binkie use..

when is a good age to take away the binkie, my son is 18 months old and he hasn't had it but sometimes I just think that it would be twice as easy to get him to go to bed with it is so much easier, is it too soon?

  • if he doesn't see it he doesn't ask for it at all. if he sees it then he wants it and doesn't want it out...

  • My 6 year old was attatched to his binkie, I seriously thought he would go to school with it! lol It was a major emergency if we couldn't find one and no one would get any sleep! However, at about 18 months he started not using it as muc and by 20 months it was gone all together!

  • Most, not all but most, kids will give it up before school starts. I don't see a point in taking them away. They will give it up. LOL

  • My 21 month old just recently stopped using his. We had limited it to his crib, but now he just holds on to it or lays it next to him at naptime/bedtime instead of putting it in his mouth. He has gone to bed without it once or twice, but if he asks I just hand it to him - I'm not worried about him having it only in his crib. If it helps him sleep, I'm all for it!

  • Is a binkie a pacifier or a little blanket?
