Another "Let them eat cake" moment?!

For all of those who think Obama and the Democrats really care about "the little people" of this country, take a gander at this!

In the recently passed $26 BILLION teacher bailout, a large portion of the funding came from future reductions in FOOD STAMP benefits! The Democrats crow that they saved 160,000 teacher jobs, but fail to mention this bill will cut the future monthly food stamp benefits of the 40 MILLION people that rely on them!

God forbid, the Dems make the Teacher's Union actually face reality like the rest of the country and make the appropriate cuts!

I also seem to recall some Republicans saying that the stimulus money shouldn't be used to hire teachers, because that money wouldn't be there in future years! Sounds to me like that's exactly what happened and why the need for the bailout!

  • Is this how the new paygo system will work?
anywhooooo....this is all bullshit wrapped in a liberal wrapper.
Most school budgets are approved and started by July1 of the year for the upcoming school year. Passing a bill on Aug 11 for this year is A BIG FAT LIE
This years budgets are already appropriated.
Where does this money go? Ask Obama, Snowe and Collins.

  • I predict that there will be a separate bill brought forth by the Dems to make up for the reduction they took from food stamps and when the Republicans vote no they can keep billing them as the party of no. It's all in perception, isn't it? I wonder how much pork they will put in the food stamp bill?

  • Because Gertie. All Dems but 3 voted for it. Only 2 Rhinos (typical Snowe and Collins)voted for it. The Dems created the bill with their friends the Unions. It's theirs.....

  • The majority of politicians regardless of party or party ideology, do not care about the "little people"..

Most have never been a "little person". Those that have been, haven't been for so long that they no longer really relate or remember what it was like.

Congress continues to vote down, minimum wage increases. Though they themselves vote themselves a cost of living pay raise every year. They tell the public that retirement funds, medical care, ect is all up to each one of us, personal responsibility and all.. Yet their's are all guaranteed by rules they made and passed. Most members of Congress are millionaires and were so when they became elected.

Understanding, relating to, and working in the best interest of the "little people" is not Congress' strong point, by any means.

  • The politicians from Maine were the ones who started all this crap, saying the state was broke. Well it is, but it's not all from teacher's salaries

They are saying they can't pay teachers this year, when in fact they can't pay anyone anymore.

  • WHy do people here want to say Libs are at fault? And why do you think cuts should be made for education? And don't Republicans and conservatives think that WELFARE is a waste of taxpayers' money and that people need to work for their food and housing and not think they are "entitled". So....what's the deal?
Do you want tax money to go for Education or for Food? Hmmm? That is the choice here, the choice you presented.

  • Pixie said it best-

Fighting between the 2 ideologies only makes the crooks (politicians) laugh. They are united against the rest of us. Doesn't everyone realize that? Your go to guy/gal would screw you out of your last penny and breath, if it meant s/he could continue on the lifetime gravy train. The fox are guarding the hen house.
