What kind of flour do you use?

Can you tell a difference in taste when you use a different brand?

I just finished a bag of Walmart brand flour and things were fine. I ran to Meijer and bought a bag of their store brand and nothing tastes quite right ever since. :-( It just has kind of a...stale? flavor? I don't know, but something's not right.

What kind do you use and do you swear by it?

  • I usually use Gold Medal. No real reason, except that is what my mom always got.

  • I buy what ever flour the store sells. I go to many different stores just depends on what's on sale.

  • Brand-wise, I'm not picky. I usually stick with what's cheapest - as long as it's unbleached. I use whole wheat too, but I'm really limited, really only have 2 or 3 brands available. So it depends where I'm shopping when I need it.

  • I use King Arthur flour and it has been great for baking. I use both white and wheat flour.
