What is the maximum you would spend on a backpack for a 17 year old?

My son is starting his senior year in a couple of weeks and needs a new backpack. He used his last one since 8th grade. The one he picked out is an Oakley and is $200, he has a job and said he'd split it with me. Would you spend $100 and allow him to spend that much on a bag??

  • Honestly. He carried one from 8-11. So, he isn't gonna kill it. He can use it from 12-college and even after. So, he is going to spend $100.00 and he is a good kid. Why not spend $100 yourself and get him what he wants and would feel good about.

  • It's his senior year and it appears to me he is becoming responsible in having a job and wanting to split the cost so why not.

  • I would buy it for my 17 year old because he would do yard work for it or pay half of it. He sounds like he knows what he wants and the value of it.

  • I would especially if he gets good grades and is willing to pay 1/2 many kids would not even offer that! It will last him and he has not had a new bag in many years. If it was me and I could afford it I would.

  • At that age I never used a backpack... But if he's gonna use it I don't see why not spend the money to get a good one.

  • $30 if it's a really nice one. There is no way on earth I would spend $200 or even $50 on a backpack!
