Choosing Reading Over TV

If the TV were turned on to children's programming, would your toddler opt to "read" (look at books) over watching the TV?

  • It depends on her mood. There are plenty of times, my daughter gets up from watching a movie or show and brings me a book instead

  • Probably. My kids very rarely sit down and watch something. They really just like music on tv shows.

  • Probably. Most children's programming is not optimized to hold a toddler's attention. It's an acquired taste for most kids, but very addictive once established. We put on the TV occasionally so it doesn't come across as a complete novelty to him. Otherwise we opt for non-electronic play and interaction.

  • Yes, up until a few months ago. Now, mine loves Sesame Street, Clifford and Word World too much to be bothered with books while those shows are on.

  • it depends on the show and his mood...the child LOVES to read..h even falls asleep with bopen books on his fac elik an old man..lol I do limit his TV watching greatly so he might be engrossed just because he rarely is exposed
