HCG actually has to be at 5 mIU(most urine tests do not register until around 25) Blood screenings can detect a pregnancy earlier than a urine test at about 7-12 days from possible conception whereas a urine test then the earliest you can take a test would be 14 days from possible conception.
For those saying 48 hours after sex for a HCG screening...no not possible.
The test may fail to detect hCG even when a woman is pregnant if the test is done too early. It takes at least 7 days after fertilization for the test to become positive.
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that is produced by the placenta. It is detectable in the blood and urine within 10 days of fertilization (1 to 2 days after implantation). As said above, 7-12 days at the earliest for a blood screening.
