Is it rude to ask to be selected as 'best answer'?

I am bad about closing my Open questions, but someone went through all of the told questions saying "Close this question and select me as your best answer".

What do you think about this?

  • "Thank you! I selected your answer to my question, [ ]as the Best Answer.
You've earned 10 extra credits! Thanks for answering and helping me out. Keep up the good work!"

You get selected as best answer for giving a helpful answer... not for asking for it.
I will give you best answer for this one... but for my other questions... BEST ANSWER goes only to legitimate answers.
