Is fresh spearmint safe during pregnancy?

I grow spearmint in my garden, It is very good in teas (pull a few leaves and let them soak in the tea a while) anyhow I am 5 weeks pregnant. Is it safe to put some spearmint leaves in my hot/cold tea? Just checking to make sure there are not adverse reactions to it while pregnant. Thanks

  • You can have an adverse reaction to anything and everything while pregnant. So if you use the mint and you get heartburn or throw up or anything else, then don't use it again

  • Peppermint tea or in short, mint tea, can even be labeled as 'Pregnacy Tea', as it is considered to be good for pregnancy. Mint has many medicinal and culinary uses and it is commonly used by people all over the world. Other popular herbs of the mint family are spearmint, basil, peppermint, lavender, apple mint and thyme. Mint plant belongs to the family Mentha. You must have heard about the use of mint in toothpastes, ice creams, chocolates, candies, etc. You can either use the dried mint along with the regular tea leaves or you can use fresh mint leaves while preparing a cup of tea. Fresh mint tea can be made by pouring hot, but not boiling, water over fresh leaves of mint.
