what do you use to clean your shower?

we have this plastic type floor on our shower that has dips in it and it seems like it gets grimy looking so fast, and its a pain in the butt to scrub... I've tried lysol shower cleaner and diluted bleach but neither works very well... any suggestions?

  • This Is what we use for most cleaning (initially used as part of my daughter's 6th grade science fair project). It is cheap (my favorite) and non-toxic.
    1/4 cup white vinegar
    3/4 cup warm tap water
    1 tablespoon baking soda
10 drops of tea tree oil (antibacterial, antifungal, etc.)
2 drops oil of lavender essential oil (optional) (antiseptic and smells nice)
For extra scrubbing, I make a paste with salt, baking soda and vinegar.

  • I use soft scrub in mine, I would use a scrub brush with it if I were you. I like the girls home made mix up there. Have to try it out, I have both those essential oils here right now too :)

  • have you tried a little baking soda and a scrub brush?
those plastic liners can be tough!
we have one shower that is very susceptible to mold, we leave a squeegie in the shower and wipe the water away after each shower. it could help you too.

  • I really don't know, I have an OLD tub and use Tilex mold and mildew. But outside on our plastic storage bins and chairs we fight with sap and dirt. Nothing gets them clean except straight bleach. after we scrub them with that we saturate them with water.
That might be a last resort.

  • Steam - works great & kills the mold & mildew dead so that it doesn't come back as quickly.

  • oh yeah, we use the squeegie thing so the walls are pretty easy to keep up with but the floor is yuck after like 2 showers... we must have a lot of toe jam! haha
Baking soda is a good idea to get down in the grooves... i'll try that
