Why do babies give open mouth kisses?

Even when we kiss them with closed lips lol all 4 of my kids gave open mouth kisses.

  • lol, my baby girl smacks her lips together like she's eating when she kisses me. it's so cute. but to answer your question..... how else could they slobber you up if their mouth isn't open? lol

  • Funny, my son never did! I know most babies do and I always thought it was odd he had his own way of giving kisses. He still has yet to really pucker up but he's always given kisses with his lips pinched shut lol, even as an infant.

  • I don't know, but when I tell my daughter "eskimo kisses" she will stick her nose at me. It's so cute!

  • My son does that! I think it is cute and I know that one day he will figure it out. I really like the innocence of it. I think he thinks my mouth is open. Maybe because I give him wet juicy kisses.
