  • With the heat. I would maybe just give them some fruit and gaterade. Water is the best thing for them while they are out in the heat.

  • Maybe water and an energy bar. There have been problems with electrolyte drinks. I live in Tucson where it is frequently over 100, dry, and people are active. You would think people would have problems with heat and there would be warning all the time but it's not that way. People just drink water and don't that big of deal about it.

I live near a big urban park and there are always people jogging, walking, riding bikes, playing with their kids, at the big dog park, playing golf, having get togethers, ect. It is great to see people out doing things. Kids are out in the heat and do fine. When I lived in IN parks weren't used.

  • Something with carbs for ready energy - juice or gatorade. Fruit snacks also provide quick energy (BECAUSE of their sugar content). Raisins, granola bars, trail mix or yogurt are also excellent quick energy food sources; just make sure they don't eat them IMMEDIATE prior to the activity. Allow 45 min to an hour. Post sports, chocolate milk is a perfect recovery drink!

  • There's nothing better than water in this heat. I'm in Texas and its near 100 right now. If you do give them gatorade, they also need and equal amount of water too. My SS likes Cliff bars too right before practice.

  • Water. And bananas and sliced oranges. But not too much or they will have stomach cramps. My kids had water bottles--insulated with ice .

  • Something high in protein. Also, water. NO juice, no soda. Limit sports drinks.
