spit up question?

If a baby spitups, does that mean they're full?

If they spit up a tiny bit or a lot is there a difference?

  • Not really. It can mean there is an air bubble making the child seem full. Burp and see if that helps. Pay attention to how much the child eats at each meal and that should help you gauge how much is making him/her full. If the baby continually spits up a lot and has projectile vomiting then there may be a problem but try the burping thing for minor spitting.

  • Some babies spit up often and grow out of it. Mine spit up until they could move around. Ask your pediatrician at the next checkup or give them a call if you are uncomfortable about it.. GL

  • Babies spit up because they don't have that reflex yet that keeps foods down. Sometimes a little comes back up. There is a difference between spit up and vomit, though. You'll be able to tell the difference by the appearance and the smell.

  • Babies can spit up sometimes because they over eat. If your baby is spitting up alot, then you need to talk to his dr because he could have reflux and refluxy babies aren't happy babies. Think about having heartburn alot and constantly throwing up. If baby is throwing up like something off the Excorsist, then you may need to take JR to the er. Hope I helped a little?
