  • put up signs to make sure they are not lost, post a found dog ad on Craigslist in the pet section and in LOST & FOUND section. Then place them for rehoming on Craigslist

  • Call a local animal sanctuary. A lot of the time they will be able to help alleviate the problem and take the dogs off of your hands... Or you can take them to Petsmart. They have animal sanctuaries they work directly with and often times can help you find immediate homes in no-kill shelters.

And yes, most animal control shelters/humane societies do kill. Make sure wherever you choose is no-kill.

  • Also in the mean time call a local vet or two and ask if they'll do a free micro-chip scan for you. A good majority of pets these days are chipped (all of mine are) so that would be one fast track way to locate a possible owner. GL!

  • Freecycle.org does not let you place animals on there itsallabtthem84, it is against TOS. Craigslist however does.

Actually Freecycle does. That is where we adopted our current puppy from less than two weeks ago and I have seen numerous other pet posts as well. It generally all comes down to the specific group moderator.

  • Take to any vet for the chip scan. Go to your animal shelter's website and there should be info on how to post a found dog notice. There may be a humane society in your area and they may have a found dog service. There are other online lost and found dog services. Check craigslist and put a notice in the pets section (not lost & found people don't look there). Post found notices in your neighborhood.

If this doesn't work you can try to find homes, take to animal shelter or humane society, contact rescure orgs to see if they will take them. If the dogs are purebred or look purebred there are orgs that will take them that may even be in other states. Poodle orgs will take mixed poodles.
