  • By focusing on our own problems instead of trying to fix everyone elses!

  • If people went back to personal responsibility and accountability for their actions, stopped blaming others for their personal failures and became resourceful again with the "whatever it takes" attitude, and did for themselves, and refused to depend on the government to bail them out, THEN we might see a turnaround!!

As a country, we have become weak, and no longer possess the drive or initiative to be successful--we (in general) want to ride on the coat-tails of other successful people, and want all of the reward without putting in the required time or effort.

  • By bringing jobs back to America instead of sending them overseas just to put more money in the pockets of those at the top of the chain, by being serious in our attempts to end our dependencies on oil, by re-examining how many of our systems work (education/welfare/taxes/etc/etc), by listening more to our public to better ascertain where the problems lie, by realizing the inherent worth and value of each of our citizens and treating them accordingly rather than only worrying about poll numbers or ratings, by sticking to our commitments and promises.... the list could go on and on...

  • Less regulation geared towards making money versus regulations for safety standards. It would let more small businesses flourish and help foster the "we can do it" attitude.

  • I've been doing some research lately and it's true that down times are cyclical. Every10-12 yrs things go to pot. It's what you do to get things moving again that matters. As we know the 30s were an extended time of downs and in all reality it took a war to bring us out of it. The war put people back to work and working people make the biggest difference. Per our government we have been in recession since 2007. I'm not subscribing to that theory but if you want to we can say we have been in recession for 3 yrs. That would be our longest recession to date. What is the correlation between the great depression and the so called great recession? Lack of jobs. Unfortunately this fact is not being addressed and we are in 2 wars now so that's a double whammy. What's going to get us out of this recession? I can't say I know for sure but I do know it will happen. Just that it's not being addressed correctly right now.

  • Rebuild an industry (any industry) where it is more economically advantageous for us to produce domestically and export than it is for us to only import. We traded off everything that was cheaper to do overseas, and that's fine, that's how economics works. Where the ball was dropped was finding something to replace that and even it out. Fair trade only works if we have something we can offer everyone else more cheaply than they can make it themselves. Between subsidies like the corn industry receives and the severe drop in trades and craftsman education while we stress tech knowledge, we have squeezed out any industry where we held an economic advantage. In other words - we threw the baby out with the bathwater and someone needs to find a new way for the nation as a whole to make money from the rest of the world.
