How do I get him to stop chewing on his crib?

My son is 14 months old and will chew on his crib when he is awake and in his crib. Today, we didn't even hear him up right away. As soon as I heard him, I went into his room to get him, only to find little white paint chips in his mouth. I wiped all of it out that I could, but this isn't the first time we have found he has been chewing on the crib. What can we do to stop this?

  • Oh....great question. Really, I had no idea babies did this. Just thought it was my little one. We bought a "Trend Lab CribWrap Convertible Front Crib Rail Guard" from Babies R Us, and it even has little velcro loops for teethers. Jake was a much happier waker-upper and sleeper after I put this on. He quickly figured out the velcro and can take the teethers off, but that's great too. I also bought plastic rail guards for the sides but haven't put them on yet.

  • I don't know if they still do, but they used to sell the crib rail guards. Good luck.
