  • The Beginnings of Al-Qaeda had less to do with religion, and more to do with US foreign policy in ME countries, and our actions in those countries.

Now religion is being used by them and by our government as an excuse/justification for what all is going on. Why? because that gets far more press, far more interest, and gets far more people pissed off-involved-hating-fighting-and willing to do just about anything in the name of their religion to fight for or against whichever side.

Religion is being bastardized yet again in history for political means, for power, for control...... etc..

  • What people choose to do, however evil, does not discount what they should do or what their faith teaches. It's easy to blame religion, rather then the fact that people are just historically awful to one another. Unfortunatelly, when a psychotic fanatic hides behind his faith, the entire faith gets the blame.

  • Islam is a religion.

Al-Qaeda is a group of people that Osama Bin Laden put together after the Mujahideen came apart aftert the Afghanistan/Russian War... Osama was one of the leaders of the Mujahideen ("Freedom Fighters") that the US government funded and supported both financially and militarily. Taking his experiences/money/weapons provided by the US plus his own financial fortune, Osama Started Al-Qaeda. His "reasoning" to use this group of "Freedom Fighters" to get US influence and presence out of specific areas of the ME> Particularly Saudi Arabia, where we had a base set up near the holy capital. Which foriegners aren't even allowed in the holy city, much less a military presnence. The beginning had nothing to do with killing all Americans, had nothing to do with American way of life poisening the world. It had everything to do with US military presence where it wasn't wanted or needed.

Now it is what it is..
