  • My 4th baby was born at 23 weeks. She was 1 pound 7 oz. & measured 13 in. She spent 2 1/2 mos in the NICU & was released early weighing a little over 3 pounds because she was doing so well. She'll be 4 on Oct. 4th.

  • My daughter was born at 28 1/2 weeks and weighed 2.2 lbs., 14" long. She spent 6 weeks in the NICU (they originally estimated she'd spend 12 weeks there) but she was able at that point to breathe on her own, feed, and maintain her body temperature which was the criteria to be able to be released. She was diagnosed with PVL while in the NICU, which can be a pre-cursor to cerebral palsy. She was monitored over the years for developmental delays and such but nothing ever came of it ... she is a perfectly normal 10 year old, getting ready to start 5th grade, is a straight A student and is regularly invited to participate in gifted/explatory classes, plays several sports, plays the viola, and is a peer buddy to an autistic child. She already knows where she wants to go to college! She is truly my miracle baby.
