Help with Fair themed Cake

So I am making a cake for competition at my local fair.. I live in ohio..
The Theme is " the Road to the fair"

But I was wondering what do you guys think of when going to to a fair? What comes to mind? What do you see on the way?

  • the road to the fair makes me think of the giant open lots they use as parking LOL

probably not the best idea for a cake though ;o)

  • Well, I'm from Michigan so I see a road lined with trees with the ferris wheel sticking out above the trees. You could maybe have a car driving at one end and trees lining the road and then have the ferris wheel in the "distance" (so it is smaller than scale). Of course if you are in a part of ohio that does not have trees then you'd have to think of something else on the roadside, but you get the idea.

  • I think of livestock. You could make cute sheep and cows out of colored fondant.
