parting gift for a beloved nanny

our nanny is leaving us to go back to school. She has been with us since our son was 3 months old, and he is now 2 1/2. does anyone have any ideas for a parting gift for her to show our appreciation?

  • After over 2 years of time you should know what she likes. Or somewhat know where she likes to shop. A gift certificate always works for me LOL Or get her something meaningful as well. Like a nice pricture frame with a pic of her and your son. Or a book with a nice note and a thank you card enclosed.

  • Maybe a nice big gift certificate from the college she's going to. That would help her out. You can buy it online I'm sure.

  • I vote jewelry.... how about a nice locket with a photo of your son in it, or something engraved

  • I would have a party in her honor with the family..
    1.Beauty Service at Spa : massage, facial, manicure and pedicure, etc.
    2.Movie theater passes
    3.Restaurant Gift Certificate
    4.Book Store or on-line bookseller Gift Certificate
    5.Cash Gifts Bonus (always appreciated)
    6.Paid Day(s) off in addition to vacation time.
    7.Tickets to sporting Event
    8.Tickets to favorite concert
    9.Tickets to theater or play
    10.Electronic items: DVD Player, camera, computer, cell phone, television,etc.
    12.Plane tickets to visit friends or family
    13.Health Club Membership
    14.Clothing Store Gift Certificate
    15.Grocery Store Gift Certificate (especially helpful for nannies who have their own families)

  • OH... I like the gift certificate to college idea. Those books are SO expensive. But I would also add a small piece of jewelry!

  • I would go with something small to remember your family by like a framed print of her and your son, along with something to help her out if you can. A book store gift certificate, even a gift card to a grocery store that will be near her if she's going to be fully supporting herself.
