How do I mix my son's formula with regular milk?

He turned 11 months today and I want to start introducing it to him little by little.

  • We did 6 ounces of formula with 2 ounces of milk for one week, 4 ounces of formula with 4 ounces of milk for one week, 2 ounces of formula with 6 ounces of milk for one week, and then 100% milk after that. In theory it sounded like a good plan, but it actually took us several months to get them to drink milk. We just made sure they had plenty of other dairy until they were ready to give the milk a chance.

  • Start with mostly formula, mix in a little milk. Increase milk and decrease formula gradually.

  • my dd's pedi told me to start with 4ozs formula to 4ozs milk (if he takes 8ozs).. for 1 week.. the down to 3oz formula to 5oz milk(for another week).. the 2oz formula to 6 oz milk (then the next week after that) then the last week give him all 8 ozs milk and no formula.. good luck!!

  • Just add an ounce of milk at a time to trasition him over to regular milk. 1 oz one day, 2 oz the second day, etc. or by week.

  • Agree with the above. Have you discussed this with the pediatrician?

  • I gave my daughter an 8 oz sippy cup and put 4 scoops of formula, but she did really good and took to it and the next day I just gave her milk.

  • Mix the formula with water first, and then add milk.

  • Mix your formula with water as you normally do. Fill the bottle 3/4 with that. Add 1/4 bottle milk to the top and shake it up or mix it. Do this a few days, then 1/2 1/2 a few days, then 3/4 milk a few days. The whole process takes around a week. You might want to wait a few weeks before starting, it's up to you.
