social activities for 4.5 y/o

t-ball just ended, and I missed the registration for soccer (those are the only 2 sports my city offers for his age group). So, now I'm trying to figure out something for him to get involved in. I was thinking maybe karate? but not quite sure if he has the discipline that would be required for that. Any ideas???

  • Karate is a good one. They will teach discipline.

They usually have programs for learning basics in basketball too.

  • I like martial arts for my son, specifically the Little Dragons program. Also, check your local library schedule and the YMCA. You may also find a yahoo group for your area that arranges play dates.

  • I've heard good things about karate, but I lean more toward horseback riding, swimming, or just chilling and taking a season off.
