Would you worry that your DD is too obsessed?

My Mil (who doesn't really have any connection with DH but that's another story) called and told me that she heard from my Sil that DD is overly obsessed with the the Jonas Brothers. I blew her off (as I always do). I told DH and he said he has had that feeling too. I don't think she is, she has posters, the cds, the movie, a couple of t-shirts.. the usual. She also likes Hannah and other disney ppl.Her favorite singer is Taylor Swift. She's 8 yrs old. Do you think it's possible for her to develop an obsession at 8 or should I just tell DH/MIL to lighten up?

  • I think at that age it is normal to have things of interest that may seem like obsession. But its not. I would tell them to lighten up because it's a just a phase that will surely pass.

  • I think its fine. As long as your daughter is involved and interested in other things its fine.

  • I think as far as DH goes it's cause they are boys. I told my MIL that she is never around to make any assumptions about my kids, but I did second guess myself when he sided with someone he hasn't spoken to since he was 14. I agree though, it's normal.
