I'm feeling lazy and need to know how much beans to cook to get 4 cans. Anyone good with the math out there? lol

  • The average can has 1 1/2 to 2 cups. Dry beans double in volume when cooked. So....you'd need 3 to 4 cups of dry beans to get the same amount in 4 cans. Personally, I'd cook 3 cups because it seems like whenever I cook dry beans I end up with a few too many.

  • Assuming there are 2 c. per can, that would be 8 c. total......so look on your bag of beans and see what a pound will make. It's about 2 cups dried, I think, so I'm guessing you would need to cook 2 pounds of dried beans.
