Huge turtle found in my moms back pond...what should she do with it?

This turtle is just ginormous, lol. My son and my moms boyfriend went back there to do a little fishing over the weekend and when they thought they had caught a big old was this huge turtle instead.
Now, I am gathering it must be some years old..doesnt it take a long time for turtles to get that big? I am also gathering that it is a snapping turtle.
Well, they can't keep it in thier pond, its eating all the fish.
Moms boyfriend wants to catch it and make turtle soup out of it (YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!)
I say they should call the zoo and see if they want it and if not maybe they will have some other resources for them to call to get it picked up and givin a good home.
Help me save this turle from turning into yucky turtle stew!!
p.s. this really isnt a just for fun subject but want quite sure where else to put it,lol.

  • Catch it & take it to another pond like DesrtRose75 said. Hurry before your Moms Friend gets it. The poor thing!! DO NOT LET HIM EAT IT! That's HORRIBLE!!!! If he's big, he's old and he made it this far, don't be mean to it. Or Call your local wildlife society, they are in the Yellow/White Pages Phone Book!!!! NOW!!!!!!

  • Let it live in their pond, as a pet and call it speedy.

  • You can try relocating it but make sure the pond has plenty of fish or it will find it's way back.

  • Call the zoo if they don't take it they might know who will.

If they can't help call the police, they usually know too..

NO soup!!!!!!! also, take a pic!!! :)

  • I would call around to find someplace that will take it. I don't like fish so I would leave it there.

  • Don't try and catch it. They are quick when they bite and their necks are really long. Once they latch down they can't let go again. Stay away from it.

  • They are extremely dangerous. Call your local DNR or law enforcement center and ask them who you can call to get it removed. However, turtle is delicious if it is cleaned and prepared right. Just like I tell my little daycare kids, don't say yuck until you actually try it. You might be surprised. Keep an open mind.
