Can my husband divorce me with out my knowin?

Iv been seperated for about 5 years juat never had cash for divorce my husband emaild me and told mr wev been divorcded for about a year now and hes engaged.Is this possabul and if so how do i get coppys of paperwork

  • I don't know for sure, but I think you would have had to have been notified. There should be a record at the court house, but I would call a public defended where you live as ask him your question. He will then be able to tell you how to find out.

  • If you didn't sign anything, then you're not divorced. Unless you misunderstood what you were signing, I don't know how that could be. I'd call the court like the other mamas suggested.

  • You have to get sent paperwork because you need to sign it too. He may be refering to if your state goes by any "common law" rules (like some states say if you live with your SO for 7+ years you are commom law married) you can go to the city's records hall and look this info up for free and if he did anything without you knowing he can get in some trouble.

  • No you're not divorced. You have to be served with the papers and sign them yourself for them to be filed and finalized by a judge. He's full of sh!t to tell you that.

  • Also when the divorce is final they send you a copy of the papers.

    Ask him which courthouse he did it at and call them.
