  • Whatever, so stupid how high profile people get off easy just because they have money!! The justice system is sooooooooooooo messed up it's not even funny! He's guilty and everyone knows it. Face the facts, you knew you were doing wrong now pay the price!

  • The jurors said the government case was so complicated they couldn't evaluate the evidence properly.

  • It's funny that he feels vindicated--a hung jury is not the same as dismissal of charges. He is an asshat (I think that is what is on his head!)

  • Sounds to me like Chicago-style politics wins again! I would almost bet that they bought off at least one juror, somehow.

Answer by 29again at 7:17 PM on Aug. 18, 2010

  • Who was the hold-out juror who caused the hung jury? I wonder how much she got paid for that?

It's not about what you DID its about WHAT can be PROVED

  • "It's not about what you DID its about WHAT can be PROVED"

Too right ! That is the fundamental protection of our American court system. If there is a reasonable doubt, then a juror MUST NOT convict. ... Innocent until proven - PROVEN - guilty.

There are plenty of countries where that is not actually the case! One is required to prove one's innocence !

It is chilling to see how much trial and conviction by media circus is accepted by today's American public ! They seem to think we live in one of those other countries.

I have no horse in this race, but I DO feel strongly about affecting other people's lives based on sophomoric bias instilled by irresponsible reporters.

There is a reason we have a jury trial, rather than convicting people by taking a poll of the American public, after all.

Sorry, you are all welcome to your opinions. I just see too much of this "deciding based on media rumors".

  • Typically, our court system is a poll of peoples thoughts. Even though they have all kinds of information it is still just their opinion in the end that convicts or sets them free. What does it mean if 11 jurors believe he is guilty and only one doesn't? Only that the one had different opinions on what he/she heard during the trial. For all we know they could just not be quite sure they wanted to be the one to toss Blago into jail. You never know, you can only accept or not accept the verdict. That's why convictions can be appealed.
