How many of you admit to lying..

About how "cute", "pretty", ect about how a person looks. Adult or child. In your personal life and on Cafe Mom. Do you ever say oh! Your so pretty even when you don't think so? Why do you if you do and why not just not say anything at all. Have you ever been honest when you think someones unattractive or just say something to make em' feel good?...

  • I won't lie but it doesn't mean I have to say anything. Usually if somebody ask if they're pretty or something like that and I don't think they are I'll point out their good featers. I don't mean they are ugly but I'm also not going to tell somebody they are drop dead grorgous if they are not. But at the same time everybody has a diffrent opinion on what is pretty and what is not.

  • I feel that I say what I mean. I saw a woman the other day, this little girl called her, "grandma". I looked up at her and this woman looked about 45, and I told her that! She then told me she had 5 other grandkids,,lol,,,we shared a moment and I told her she didnt look old enough to be a grandma, and I meant it. I feel that I say what I mean, and mean what I say,,,:)

  • I like your answer KristiS.......what I think is beautiful someone else won't. Yes I have told some people that their children are adorable, cute, pretty, whatever.....when I really don't mean it. How many people haven't looked at a baby (or child) and said that he/she is adorable when we all know that not every baby is cute?

  • Eh, Ive done it before. & It was to try and make that person feel better about themselves. Now had I say, uhh you look like shit, now would that make them feel better? I dont think it would. :) I dont randomly tell the person she is beautiful, but if shes feeling down on herself and is feeling like she isnt attractive, why not say something like "Thats not true!" I guess it depends on the situation, lol. Like the first person said, everything has its beauty..

  • i don't run into this situation very often. If someone asked me how they looked though, I would tell them they looked good even if they didn't. Unless it was a bad outfit or something, I would tell them i didn't like the outfit. I would NEVER tell someone they weren't pretty though. Every woman should feel pretty no matter what I think.

  • Depends. I'll tell another mother in a heart beat that their child is cute/pretty. whatever to make not only the mother, but the child feel better about themselves. whats a little white lie?

now a grown up, if they ask you how do i look, well if they dont like the answer they shouldn't have asked.

  • I only say I think someone looks good if I really think they do. As far as kids go, if I can't honestly say they look good, I'll probably say something else about them nice. I try not to lie, but if I would never tell someone they look horrible if they asked me how they looked. Now if a close friend asked what I thought, I would probably tell them, lol. I would want them to do the same to me!
