  • depends on how urgent they feel the case is and what the caseload is like at the time you called and who they have available to check it out.

  • Depends on if you call at night or day, depends on their current case loads, depends on how immediate the need is, and depends on the state. Some states, such as mine, have a three step system. If the child is not in immediate harm when you call, they will refer the parents out to work a treatment plan instead of taking the child. They do have to take into consideration a lot of cases are bogus, so it might take awhile being as he wasn't covered in bruises and isn't a bloody pulp. CPS is funky like that.

  • On that, I'd call the cops rather than CPS.

  • Call CPS AND the police! Call 911 RIGHT AWAY if a child that young is alone in a pool! Call the property manager!!! The police will come right away and when they call CPS they show up a.s.a.p. That mother DOES NOT deserve her kid! NO excuse for that, EVER!

  • Did it occur to anyone that maybe the mom or dad or whoever was home could of been in the shower, or on the toilet. If they have a problem like crones disease and have to be on the toilet. Or maybe there is something els going on in the home and no one knows the little one is outside. The door was left unlocked BY MISTAKE! IT HAPPENS. Just stop and think how all of you would feel if you were busy and turned around your little one was gone, or you got a knock on the door after getting out of the shower to find out your being called a bad mom and don't deserve your kid becaue they were being a " kid " and took off. How often does this happen with this particular kid. Do you see this kid alone all the time? I always call 911 when i see a kid left alone in a car (under legal age). This is your neighbor you should find out what is really going on. It's great that you are concerned. Maybe the mom will thank you for your time.
