  • Wow, you really are down. I'd say you need a nice relaxing bath and a walk. And maybe a cookie. Cookies make me happy :)

  • You get to spend time with your son. That would cheer me up. My son hasn't spoken to me in about ten years and won't even tell me why. Appreciate the little things like having your son and your health to be able to make (and eat) the cookies. Find the good.

  • Go volunteer at the local children's cancer ward.

    Go volunteer at the local pet hospital.

    Go watch people or animals suffer for real, over something real. Then, you can appreciate something of value in your own life. While you're spending your energy comparing yourself to all the world who has it better than you, you'll feel down. Clearly, a comparative essay about who is more confident than you isn't going to make you feel better... so stop it.
