Do you have a rule for getting rid of things?

I know some people go by the rule "If I haven't used it in 2 years it goes OUT!". What about you? Do YOU have a certain "rule" you use?

  • If I haven't used it in over a year (certain tools are an exception, like the toilet snake), and it's easily replaced, it can go.

  • If I don't LOVE it , it has no reason for being in my life. Life is too short to settle.

  • For me, it depends on what it is. Most of the everyday stuff though, if no one has worn it or messed with it in a year, it is gone!

  • Once every 6 months or so we hang up all the clothes with the hangars backward (it's kind of a pain, but necessary). Then as the are worn and washed, they're put back in the closet normally. Then after 6 months, take everything that's still backwards, if it's seasonal, keep it backward for now, if it's not... get rid of it.

  • My rule is -- Get rid of it when no one is looking or they'll suddenly decide they need it!
