Would You Send Your Kids Door to Door??

I just had a 10 year old girl and her younger brother (maybe 5?) come to my door selling candy. I asked them what they were fundraising for, and they told me their mom.

It makes me really sad that a parent would do that. The parent, by the way, was no where in sight.

  • That's really sad.... We only did it a few times for cub scouts and we were always present. I would never send them alone or for any other purpose than to help scouts or schools.

  • No! For myself... No WAY!

For a school fundraiser... maybe, but only if I was right there to keep them safe.

  • Insane! I would never send them asking for money for me, I would go with them if it was for another organization.

  • I had an 11 yo come to my door last year, it was dark and he didn't have a parent in sight when we told him that it wasn't safe to be out, he called a parent but didn't even know the name of the street he was standing on. Very sad. NO! I would never send my child out fund-raising for me. That is very sad and pathetic.

  • Thats horrible. I see small children all the time walking/riding their bikes up and down 82nd (the main/busy street through portland). With no adult in sight. And I mean small children, were talking 3-5yrs.

  • Only if I were walking WITH THEM around the neighborhood.

Let them ring the doorbell, sell the goodies, but be waiting for them on the sidewalk.

Too risky otherwise. Kids get snatched from their own yards these days.
