My son is 15 months old and has been sucking his thumb, How can I get rid of this habit?

  • distract him as soon as you see him doing it. take his thumb out of his mouth and hand him a toy, for example

  • they have this stuff called STOP its a clear nail polish that tasted like cayenne pepper. it didnt work for my daughter who is now an 8 year old thumb sucker but it did work for my friends son which is why i tried it in the first place. i never let my other kids put thumbs in their mouths even as babies i would pull it out if i saw them put it in.

  • I wouldnt even worry about it yet. My 2 year old does it sometimes. Your child is still young. If you do decide to do something I would be passive so it doesnt turn into a power struggle. Get that stuff that tastes bad to stop nail biting or just take her hand away gently and say "eww..bad." any time you notice it happening.

  • but a sock on it--- my daughter is 10 and still sucks her thumb in her sleep so I go in her room and pull the thumb out of her mouth and put a sock on it
