Is it wrong too.. and is it proper and right too..

Is it wrong to put a 4yr old or 9yr old or any age of a kid in there room if they wont stay in timeout or the conner and when there put in there room they wont stay they come out so is it wrong to make them stay in there by standing there and holding the door shut for the amount of time that there age is for example the 4yr old keep her in there for 4mins and a 10yr old keep her in there for 10mins.

And is it the proper and right thing to do to talk to a kid after timeout to make sure they fully understand why they had to take that timeout so you know there understanding it?

  • I don't think holding their bedroom doors shut is the right thing to do. Tell them why they are in time out, and then put them in a corner with no distractions. Tell them to stay there until their time is up. Evvery time they come out of the corner or a designated spot, put them right back and continue to do so until their time is completely up, and don't say anything when you do it. Be firm when you do it with a different tone of voice. When it is time to come out , get on their level and tell them you want an apology, if needed explain what an apology is. Do this every time, and don't give in.

  • i think after u have them in time out you should ask them if they know why they were put there in the first place. And then explain to them what they did or said is wrong and unacceptable.
