  • I was 15, three months shy of 16, when I had my son. Although I did receive diapers, clothes, etc. as gifts I provided for my son from the day I turned 16. I got a job, dropped out of school, and got my own place. I received help from my family for child care, but no more than an hour or two a day after daycare. At 19 I own my own home, my own car, and just got a promotion to supervisor at my job. My son speaks well above average for his age, is learning his numbers and can recognize common words. He is fairly well adjusted, aside from the inherent mental disorders I feel he may develop. I am capable. I did what I needed to do. I am better off than some 30 year olds I know. I am a good parent. It makes me angry when people see I am young, and assume I'm a terrible parent.

  • Probably because teens typically aren't financially, mentally or emotionally ready to be parents.

  • Well, because Doogie howser was just a tv show, and fourteen year olds don't make enough money to pay for a baby. There's more to parenting than playing.

  • People question it because of moms like the ones on that TEEN MOM show on MTV. But what I can say is older moms have no room to talk because they have not had the challenge of being a teen mom, so they are in no place to judge. There's bad parents in every group and age, teen moms are just picked on the most.

  • I think it comes from the financial aspect of the situation, not your capability to keep them safe and feeling secure. Also they feel sorry for the mother because she out on her "young fun time" if she mothers correctly and doesnt dump off on someone every weekend. I believe a mother cannot be measured by age, but by how her children develop (emotionally, physically, creativly, socially etc.).

  • Because there's a difference between a teenager and an adult. Mothers who HAVE teenage daughters must know better.

  • Because teenagers should not even have a baby in the first place.
