In most countries legal adult age is 16

so why is it a big deal in the USA where its 18, for guys to notice 16-17 yr olds when in other countries those are legal adults?

In a mental sense, I know these kids are immature, but in a physical sense, they are fully mature and hence will draw attention. I don't see why its so bad for healthy adults to notice physically mature people (and not act on it, just look and like what they see).

  • since when do we say 'its okay' just because another country does it? our laws are american, not belonging to another.
btw..what is 'just for fun' about these questions? wouldn't they be better suited for PC&E?

  • Both my dh and I were legal at 18 which really pissed off my dd lol.  She will be 18 in December and the legal age here is 19.  HAHA!

I here what you are saying though.  The legal age of consent is a grey area because if there is only a couple of years age difference then it is no big deal, even if one is legal and the other is not.

  • What's this all about? Do you know a guy who got in trouble for checking out a Child? Because that's what a 16-17 yr old is,a child. In your thinking,if a girl is 12 and looks much older, its ok for guys to be checking her out. That's nasty! Unless the guy is a pig,he's not going to be openly staring at high school girls.

  • Well if they are old enough to drive and get jobs and file taxes, even be tried in court as adults, then why don't we make them adults?

Esp if she looks older how would a total stranger have any clue how old she is or if she goes to high school? He doesn't know her and unless its really obvious, there'd be no way to know her age or anything else about her. A pretty girl is a pretty girl and they'll get looks. Nothing piggish about it, its human.
