  • we sit towards the middle-back, so its not as obvious if he isn't 'quiet', which is normal for a 5yo..our church has 'busy bags'..doesn't always work, depending on the child/mood. a lot of the service, i spend my time whispering to him to 'watch and learn', and explain what's going on. (we attend methodist/episcopal churches, so there's always something to 'watch', unless the sermon is especially long. ) we usually take one trip to the bathroom, and he loves going up for communion/he doesn't understand it yet, but its an 'activitiy' so its all good! lol!

  • What about one of those little etch-a-sketch thingies? And let it be a church-only toy, in that it is the only time the child is allowed to play with it.
