"wet blanket' people

Some people on here remind me of that SNL skit "Debbie Downer". You ask an upbeat question and they throw in this negative answer. Why do they even bother answering if they can't keep it in the spirit, you know?

  • HA HA HA ... we call my mom "Debbie Downer" ... you know the "glass half full/glass half empty" adage? We joke that she's such a pessimist that she can't even see the glass!!!

And my MIL ... she's another one that wallows in misery and tries to bring everyone else into the mix ... I can't say what we call her ... :P

  • Oh, you mean like"Is it okay to cheat on my DH?" and someone answers ":Cheating is never a good thing". Oh,yeah, what a downer. @@
Seriously, I see nothing wrong with most answers that you would say are "downers".
