  • Go to your local court house, get the pappers, fill them out, and file them.

  • What are the reasons why you are thinking about divorce?

  • Find a divorce lawyer and talk to them about it. We did everything through the lawyer.

  • The first step would be to contact some family law attorneys in your area most will give you the first visit free you can go and ask all kinds of questions.

  • Do you belong to/go to a church? I would recommend getting counsel before moving forward legally.

  • unless your husband is a very reasonable man, and the two of you completely agree on all aspects of your divorce (or can mediate it), you'll need a lawyer. Also, if there are children involved, again- you'll need a lawyer.

It also depends on the reason for divorce how you would proceed forward. In short, call the court house and ask what papers to file if you are going it without a lawyer, or if you decide to have council present, start shopping around.

  • First be absolutely sure that this is what you want and then call a law firm orcounty court house and proceed from there. But what ever you do, Good Luck!
