Does everyone understand that the Pentagon has a Prayer room for Muslims inside it?

In fact it's almost identical to the prayer room they would like to put in this Center everyone keeps bitching about... And guess what, there has never been a big deal about that one - and Pentagon was hit that day too, so why does one matter than the other?

  • It doesn't. People just do not understand, I think you hit the nail on the head there Sabrina. The news needs something to cause a media sensation about, and this happens to be it. I guess they are just waiting for the next hurricane, earthquake, terrorist attack, etc. The reaction is just what the media is hoping for. They are not happy unless the entire country is in a frenzy. Now, why do you suppose that it? That's the question....

  • everybody should have equal access to holy ground, no matter what name they wish to call it! Muslim, pagan, atheist, satanist, christian, jehovah witness, etc

  • I think it is like a chapel, a non denominational space for people to have whatever kind of service. Of course Muslims pray there every day, and most likely, there are Muslims praying there 5 times every day.

  • No, it isn't 'identical'. It is a non denominational chapel that is used by all. Before a Muslim can pray, they have to move the seating used by other faiths out of the way. All faiths are treated the same, and all are welcome.

  • Yes there is a big difference from terrorist and Muslims, just like every other religion with extremists. The two are not the same.

  • Well, this makes about as much sense as the old Burlington building being sacred ground. (Only in America would retail space be called 'hallowed'.)
We're a couple of months away from midterms. 9/11 is one of those knee jerk issues politicians can trot out to energize the base, get people even more pissed off at each other, and take attention away from the fact that not a single one of those assholes has any real agenda for anything or anyone but themselves. American politics is a joke, and people who are getting all up in arms over something as inconsequential as a damned community center with a worship space inside that is funded by a group of moderate muslims are exactly the kind of voters the right needs -- guileless, naive, easily distracted, lacking logic, swayed by appeals to emotion, and generally incapable of seeing through the rhetoric to the lack of issue here.

  • Omg really? And the person who is in charge is an extremist sympathizer? And they think Islamic extremism is an oxymoron? And doesn't acknowledge Hamas as a terrorist group? And do they also blame US policies for 9/11? Oh and are they a well known member of the group who funded the 2010 flotilla that left 9 people dead?

If none of those apply to the Pentagon then I am glad it's there! But Rauf does not have moderate beliefs, he is someone I personally don't trust, And it would be a true same for 100s of innocent good Muslims to get mixed up with that man.
