What do you do when you buy new clothes then they shrink after washing? Can they be returned?

I bought my son 7 shirts from Kohl's, all size 7..if it were any other store this size would be roomy and leave room to grow.
I also always wash clothes before wearing....well these shirts shrunk!!! this has never happened and well I never really go to Kohl's anyway but this week they were having a big sale so I went...Never again will I buy clothes from there!!

  • Did he try them on before you bought?

I'm not saying you are wrong here but not all size 7s are the same. Each brand will be slightly different and this could be part of the problem.
I also don't know enough about Kohls to say if they will take back a washed item. Do you still have your receipt?
If this store is indeed 90 miles away, make sure you call first to let them know and see if they will accept it. At least for store credit.
We shop at Kohls a lot and have never had a problem with the clothes from there.

Oh another thought (because my DH has a shrinking problem)
were they 100% cotton? I never buy 100% cotton for my Dh anymore because it always shrinks, even when washed in cold and dried on med.

  • I live in a rural area where Kohl's is 90 miles away...I would have to make sure they take them back before driving back out there.

  • Most places wont take clothes back if the tags are off, especially if they have been washed. But they might. Maybe next time you buy from somewhere unfamiliar, only wash 1 first and see what happens. That way you're not out the cost of 7 shirts.
