Did the amount of travelling you do change once you had kids?

My husband and I travel quite a bit and are hoping to be able to keep doing at least some once the baby gets here.

  • Yes, I haven't been on vacation, or anywhere for that matter, in 17 years...

  • We've actually traveled MORE after having kids than we ever did before having them.

  • Hell yeah it did! DH and I went on road trips all the time (and have lived in 2 states); the last "road trip" was moving home to Michigan from Louisiana when DD was 7 months old (she'll be 2 in December)...

  • yes.... we do a lot more 'staycations' or mini-vacations two or three nights less than 100 miles from home. Our baby is old 6mos. and since it fun to see his reactions to all NEW things it works for us. Plus we really don't have the money to do big trips anymore.

  • Our traveling consisted of going to the shore. So if we wanted to go, we just took the kids with us and went as a family. Only 1 trip to the Bahamas we went alone and New York for an Anniversary.

  • Yes, especially since we have 3 under 3. Its alot harder to travel with small children than if they were older.

  • We still travel but the type of travel destination has changed ALOT.

Answer by Syphon at 11:41 AM on Aug. 21, 2010

  • Only when they were tiny. Once they were about 3-4 we started traveling again. Little ones are so routine oriented and require so much stuff, it just made traveling too difficult.

  • We travel just as much, if not more. We take trips with and without the kids - there's no reason for you to stop!!
